3889. Discharge day!
I am hopefully getting discharged today, I finally saw the consultant yesterday afternoon and they confirmed my diagnosis. I’m so relieved as it could have been so much worse, but I’ve had a warning….now I need to make a few changes! My heart attack was caused by a coronary spasm, I’d never heard of it and although it’s not rare it’s apparently quite difficult to diagnose as the patient presents with classic heart attack symptoms, but no blockages and no dodgy ECG. I’m so grateful for the care that I’ve had here as it has been excellent. I’m going to write a letter of thanks to the Chief Executive of the trust as people are often quick to complain but this should be fed back to the people that are responsible for the services. The ward is spotless, the staff are so attentive and so kind and everyone takes responsibility for dealing with the patients, it doesn’t matter whether you ask the staff nurse or the domestic, they always respond. I feel truly blessed to have been looked after so well. Apart from the couple of issues at the start with the GP service not following protocol and the malarkey over me not having an NHS number, it’s been a brilliant experience. My husband is flying down today and we are catching the train home tomorrow morning. The consultant advised me not to fly, mainly because this condition is unpredictable and because we haven’t had time to notify our travel insurance company about the diagnosis. Getting a plane diverted for medical reasons would be costly! He said to get the train as if I became ill they’d just call an ambulance to the nearest station. The consultant has offered me an outpatient review appointment here because he was worried that I may have difficulty getting a follow up at home. I’ll see my GP and ask about reviews when I get home but a trip down here on the train is possible.
Thank you so much to everyone who has commented and left hearts and stars on my journal, you’re a wonderful bunch of people. The WiFi is pretty dodgy here so I haven’t been able to look at many journals or reply but I do appreciate your support. And thank you to those of you who reached out to me too!
