The Girl on the Train
After yesterday’s marathon, it’s inevitable that I feel pretty exhausted today! Our arms aren’t too bad, fortunately, and a late breakfast helps recovery.
July is a busy month, and this week especially so. Today we have another theatre visit - this time it’s The Girl on the Train at Theatr Clwyd. It’s a matinee performance, and thankfully we’re back to sunshine and warmth after yesterday’s cold drizzle. The theatre is beautifully located on the outskirts of Mold, its elevated position offering wonderful views. We make the most of these by taking our pre-performance drinks onto the outside balcony - my blip today. I think I’m far more appreciative of the theatre’s renovation today, admiring the use of natural materials and the sense of light and space, though there’s still some landscaping work to complete.
The two act performance is excellent. I was unsure how well the novel would convert to a play, but it’s done very effectively, and Laura Whitmore as Rachel is generally excellent. My enjoyment is all the greater as I’ve totally forgotten the details of the plot, having read the book some time ago!
