From Askam to Grange-over-Sands
Where in Great Britain sticky toffee pudding originates is disputed, but a take-home version to heat was developed in 1989 by the owners of the Village Shop in Cartmel, Cumbria. It's probably obvious that I love a good dessert, so it's no surprise that we stopped to try this delicacy while cycling through Cartmel. It was ok, but since I don't eat ice cream, which the menu said was included, I expected custard instead, but it wasn't served with it. Too bad, I like custard too.
The cycling felt tough today. We followed Route 700, a cycle route over mountains that were too steep to cycle up or down. We're now figuring out our own route. We'll probably have to cycle much further, but I'd rather ride somewhat further than push a loaded bike over steep hills..
