Refreshing

A quiet day today after a lot of driving yesterday when we were thwarted in having our last bowling session of the year. I arrived at the Tonbridge Wells Hollywood Bowl just after midday to see my bowling mates exiting the building. It turned out that a private school had booked 20 lanes until 2.10pm. The other four lanes, which are designated somewhat bizarrely as 'VIP' lanes, had also been pre-booked. So, we were faced with a two hour wait and after three games taking upwards of two hours, I wouldn't have started my return journey until nearly 4pm, and goodness knows what state the M25 would have been by then. So we repaired to the nearby Notcutts garden centre to have a quick bite to eat, declare the 2024/25 season over (we don't bowl when the public schools are on holiday) and bemoan the state of the world. The luridly animated owl and frog garden ornaments pictured in the extra rather summed up the downbeat mood. I was not inclined to take them home! Almost as soon as I got back to Chobham I was then taking my daughter to her paddleboarding session at Godalming and going back to collect her a couple of hours later.

Back to today, we did a watering stint at the allotment this afternoon. It was very humid so I felt, what with yesterday's exertions, that a refreshing bottle of the Hogs Back Brewery's Surrey Nirvana was called for and deserved to feature in today's blip.
