(197) Time
I made the best of the continuing good weather today and got more bike miles in. I didn't really have a route planned when I left the house and ended up wandering through the town (Whitby) and finding myself at Sandsend. From there I thought I might be able to ride through the Mulgrave estate but the signs on the gates made it clear that bikes are not allowed. Instead, I opted to head back inland to the village of Aislaby where I could ride down the bridle path to Sleights. I first explored this route, in the opposite direction, last year on the Creo (e-gravel bike) and really wanted to try again on the mountain bike as it's pretty rough and steep in places. As expected, the Levo flew down the track with no trouble, apart from trying to escape from its limiting factor, i.e. me!
In the evening we walked back down the town and along to a viewpoint overlooking the outer harbour and piers in time to see the sunset. Although on the east coast of England, the piers at Whitby face due north, meaning that in the middle of the summer months, if you were to stand on the piers and watch the sun set in front of you, a few hours later the sun would rise again, over the sea, directly behind you. (Blip title is a Pink Floyd reference, BTW) I have checked this in previous years (with photos to prove the fact) but today's blip is just the sunset view. The extra is a view from the morning's ride, looking out across the sea towards Sandsend.
