Lily, Lola's Mum...
This is Lily. Lola's mum.
We heard from our friend Carole (Lola's breeder) today that Lola's mum Lily has gone over Rainbow Bridge. We are all devastated.
Lily was one of the most beautiful and gentle dogs ever. Not only was she an excellent mum to her nine puppies, she was an award winner too, winning her group at Crufts and winning Best Veteran Bitch and Best Veteran in Show more than once, at the Golden Retriever Club of Scotland (pic in extra of her final win in October 2024)
We first met Lily when Carole brought her to Alan's 18th Birthday party. She was 16 weeks old then and she stole the show. She loved all the attention and was more than happy to give everyone cuddles. It was clear to see she was something special even at that young age.
The litter she produced in 2017 was stunning and I was delighted when Carole invited me to photograph the litter. Of course we fell completely in love with all of the pups and are so grateful and proud that Carole entrusted us with one of Lily's Golden fluff balls.
My memory of Lily from that day is her hovering close by making sure we were looking after her babies and gathering them up when they wandered off in the garden. So attentive and loving. Then sitting with her head on D's knee as he fussed over her, happy to have some attention after her puppies stealing the show.
Lily is going to be so missed by Carole and her sister Freya. And even though we all knew the end was near (she was diagnosed with incurable liver cancer a few weeks ago) it doesn't make her loss any less devastating.
Lola has been getting extra cuddles all night. Please give your fur babies extra love tonight too.
Nite nite Lily, I hope you're having fun over Rainbow Bridge reunited with Marcy and Mia <3
