Deck the Halls
... or rather, the garden!
It has taken about a month, but our decking is finally done, thanks to Mr B, his Dad and a friend. Since having tiny humans, we've found the area we used to use for seating etc. has gradually become overrun with climbing frame, swing set and other such fun items which we grown-ups are apparently too big to use. In short, we didn't have anywhere to sit comfortably in the garden.
As the greener-fingered one of the household I generally do a lot of the mowing, and this part of the lawn has always been a real pain to do. Firstly, it's a funny shape, secondly the extension cable never quite reaches, so there's always a straggly patch, and thirdly it's very mossy and generally doesn't grow nicely. Oh and it's on a slope, or at least it was before we added the levelled-out decking.
Mr PP kindly bought us some wood stain to protect it from the elements, so hopefully it'll last well. We also got some nice new garden furniture from The Range for my birthday (extra bargain due to getting the ex-display set!).
The garden is getting quite overgrown as I am still on crutches following my foot operation, it's a bit frustrating not being able to do much. I did manage to plant some fresh lavender today though, so that felt like something! The Young Master returned from nursery and proudly told me that bumble bees like lavender and said in quite a serious tone 'you not touch or hug bumble bee, they can sting'. Most wise for a two year old. Little Miss B approved of the finished product when she came home, immediately pointing out what a good place it would be to eat marshmallows.. and where were the marshmallows?
Let's hope our outdoor endeavours don't cause a change in this beautiful weather!
