We visited Lowther Castle today.

I love a castle ruin.

This one was so ruined that it was practically being rebuilt!

But, oh my word! What beautiful place. The gardens were out of this world. Really worth the visit.

We were in a dilemma as to whether spend a few days in the Lake District but I was keen to get home. So home it was.

Without warning, the road through Rowde was closed. Unbelievable! Clive suggested I walked Hetty the remaining couple of miles while he detoured the country lanes.

Anyway, we made it home in time to watch the second half of the Lionesses win against Sweden and then it was straight to bed.

We have had a fabulous trip. Can't believe it was only 9 nights. Missing my boy very much but he and R have already booked flights for a weekend here.

Hetty was very pleased to see our eldest.
