Stunned

While I was in the kitchen this morning there was a loud thump against the window..another bird strike!! I nipped outside to find this wee thing (a juvenile blackbird) sitting stationary on the ground - panting hard!

I grabbed a camera and nipped back out to get a photo - it was still there.

A few minutes after I came back in sat down I could hear a magpie screeching and chattering…and looking through the window I could see it circling and getting closer to the spot where the baby bird was.

I opened the back door and the magpie flew off - but only up to the hedge at the back. I sat on the door step for a few minutes to keep an eye out for it coming back.

Eventually the baby shook itself off and scooted across the garden to the bird bath where it had a long drink and then hopped off into the shrubbery. I hope Mum or Dad came back to check up on it, hopefully well hidden from the magpie
