Take-Off

We had booked a boat trip around the Farne Islands for Monday. The weather had taken a turn for the worse and not long after we set off the rain started.. It was an open boat so we just had to sit it out, a schoolboy error, waterproof coat and no waterproof trousers so the water runs off your coat nicely and soaks your lower half. At least we had some protection unlike the majority in the boat. The crew were impervious to the weather as seafarers tend to be so we just cracked on with the tour.
Super variety of birds and grey seals hauled out on a couple of islands - the skipper said there were 28 islands visible at low tide and a multitude of shipwrecks beneath us.
Trying to keep my camera safe, low light, keeping my feet at times with the boat rolling quite heavily meant photography was a challenge.
I took a lot of shots and couldn't leave the Farne Islands without a Puffin image.
In extras, as we queued for the boat, a Curlew in the rockpools , I was amazed to see this one was swallowing crabs, at least 3 crabs while we watched, one was twice the size of the one here.
Crazy to imagine what's going on in it's stomach.
