Stromness Library

A huge thank you to all the Blippers who commentated on my 16th Blip Birthday yesterday. The occasion caught me on the hop despite having been warned that it was in the offing. I really appreciated your taking the time to comment

I found myself in the library this morning after being at the north end of the town for a coffee in the sunshine at Julia’s. It was early enough that I didn’t doze off while sitting on the settee of napping fame. It seems that many people become thus afflicted while sitting on it, but it wasn’t my turn today.

Our swim was at 3:00pm at high tide again. There were only 3 of us in the water , 2 onlookers and no jellies. I think many Selkies were otherwise engaged in the activities on the final day of the Island Games.  The Games have been a tremendous success and the weather has been exemplary. I don’t know what the international competitors were expecting conditions to be like but I’m sure it wasn’t what they got.

After our swim the friend of a friend of a friend came back to the flat for a cuppa and chat while we kept an eye on the activity of the  sea below us, especially the pirouetting Hamnavoe ferry as it backed out of it’s berth and turned round on its way to Scrabster.  That action never fails to fascinate.
