The many sounds in our life
After a rather quiet day at the summer house in Lantheuil, I'm thinking about the many sounds in our daily life.
One of the pleasures of travelling is to experience new sounds and smells in another country, far away from home. Something new... something different.
At the top of my head, from today, here's a list of a few samples:
*the giant brown moth flying erratically around the living room just before I went to bed last night
*the sound of many glass bottles shattering in the recycling box. The red wine in France is nice, and a lot cheaper than in Iceland.
*the cute little birds chirping and flying back and forth in the garden.
*the village rooster going cock-a-doodle-doo at all times, night & day
*dogs barking and howling in the kennel nearby
*the sound - and smell - of the garbage truck going through the village just before noon and garbage bins being wheeled back and forth
*the coffee maker in our kitchen hissing and steaming while pushing the boiling water onto the filter
*the village church bell going "ding-dong" a few times a day
*the voice of Barbara, singing in Bruxelles in 1954.
*the thundering and sounds in the sky from rain coming in after just a few minutes
*and then the sounds of downpour, watering the plants and trees in the garden and splattering on the ground
*and the best sound of all, both at home and abroad:
My husband calling out "Dinner is ready!" :)
