Life through the lens...

By ValC

New brood.

Had a walk over to the pond this morning.
We haven’t been for a few weeks and the water level has certainly gone down.
The geese have all gone but there were still 8 ducks and a moorhen.
Also spotted, hiding in the undergrowth, was this mother duck with five very young ducklings.
These are the first ducklings I have seen here this year. So better late than never.

A muggy day but quite pleasant this afternoon and so we sat out in the garden for a while.
More dead heading.
I did the Big Butterfly Count and in the allotted 15 mins. spotted;
2 large white
1 small white
3 Red Admiral
2 Peacick
1 Comma
1 Holly Blue.
Now all logged and I was the first person to do the count in our village.

No watering tonight as we are expecting thunderstorms.
Tomorrow is our Wine Club barbecue, starting at 1pm. After all the wonderful weather so far this summer the forecast for Leeds is Thunderstorms all day!
Well there should be plenty of food, wine and good company, so maybe we won’t notice the weather!
