Apples and Oranges

By Anitsirk

Back to work again, after being home Tuesday until Thursday with an inflamed back. Not rid of the pain, but passed the worst stabbing pain.
The first chore I had was my usual one: harvesting flowers for bouquets. The water sprinklers were working on the flower and veggie patches, but the one closest to where I was harvesting worked on the other side. Or, so I thought… I started cutting flowers and was almost done in one place when the blasted sprinkler turned and gave me not one, but two cold showers… I admit, I squealed when the water hit me… and cursed the sprinkler for giving me a false sense of security, while it obviously had an evil plan! :D
It got me one more time, in another part of the flower patch. I did get my flowers, though, and bound three bouquets. One were sold before my day ended, to one of the stand-in Park personnel.
While I was cutting off wilted flowers of our geraniums, I heard two of the stand-in Park personnel gossiping about coworkers, in loud voices, and I felt a bit uncomfortable. Thankfully they did lower their voices a bit when we got customers. But, I did tell my boss afterwards, and she’d heard them too and agreed with me. So, if it happens again, I’m going to remind them (kindly) that this is a Greenhouse and garden store, basically, so we do have customers coming.

I took the bus home today. Walking in one direction, was enough for my back. I was tempted, though…but thought it better to save my back, since I’d been on my feet for most of my work hours.
