After a nice peaceful start (walking round with D unlocking the Abbey) the island got very busy with visitors. I got a ride back to Hawes Pier with the Maid of the Forth, and took the opportunity to get the picture postcard view of the Abbey as we passed the south bay. Saw a few seals lazing about on the Beamer Rock (under the new bridge) and a crowd of Arctic terns off N Queensferry doing the amazing dive-bombing style of fishing (like gannets do, but much faster and more aerobatic). Probably fishing for sprats, apparently. Also noticed some folk working on the road bridge (extra). I walked along the High St to get the bus opposite the Police station, as I couldn't face the steps of doom - and anyway, I almost always end up getting the bus rather than the train when I actually reach the station. Home by mid afternoon, and got embroiled in replying to emails and making lists.....
