A Day In The Life

GBH

A summery day full of bright sunshine, refreshing breezes and 80F without humidity!! WooHoo!! We’ll enjoy it for as long as it lasts :) • An afternoon trip to the river for a walk and have a look around. A couple of ospreys, a cormorant and a few leaping Stanley Sturgeon to entertain. Later we observed a great blue heron fishing on the opposite shore. Before long he took flight and appeared to head down Cobbosseecontee Stream. So we checked it out on our way home. Apparently GBH was cooling himself off with his outstretched wings, but he was also moving his throat up and down reminding me of a turkey. I looked it up and it’s called gular fluttering. It helps to regulate their body temperature, also common to pelicans and cormorants • Peace & Love
