Music while you commune with lavender
It was an event that I had been looking forward to since the beginning of May, visiting the Warwickshire Lavender Farm in the evening before sunset.
It was already busy when we arrived, Google Maps having lost the route en route. Fortunately all was well for our return.
The lavender had responded to the failing light and cooler temperature (although still warm), and the colour popped. The scent prevailed but was not overwhelming. Bees were busy. Visitors had taken their chairs and picnics right into the rows of flowers.
Instead of blaring music, a white electric piano stood at the edge of the field playing orchestrated versions of popular music, some of it automatically and some of it at the hands of the pianist.
We didn't get a vibrant red sunset but it was a lovely evening. The Urban Greek Stall provided food as did a pizza van, none of which I could eat so I was glad I'd brought my own GF paninis. A bar served both alcohol and soft drinks.
Despite a longish drive to an fro, it was a very pleasant experience.
