Plant drama & update on Edi

Only one photo taken again—can you tell I’m back from my holidays?

While I was away, the plants were living their best life—sitting in the bath and various sinks on top of soaked absorbent towels. Youngest popped in after two weeks and topped everything up. All would have been fine… if eldest had remembered to do the same in Week 4. But alas—she forgot.

Thankfully, most survived the ordeal. The peace lily’s looking half dead, and my poor Dracaena reflexa—the one she got me for Mother’s Day —hasn’t taken it well.

But look at this little miracle! My string of buttons, which was all but dead when I left, has bounced back! I’m over the moon. I’ve tried so many times to grow this one, and I think I’ve finally realised I’ve been loving it a little too much—aka over watering it.

In other news: the eye clinic was an adventure. We were told to report to the SDEC (same-day emergency care) unit after the eye clinic. Odd, as all she was meant to need was a welfare check—literally just a phone call. Instead, they started talking MRIs!
She past her eye check but after a five-hour wait, she’d had enough. Spotting her doctor heading into the reception office, she took off on her walker like lightning (I’ve never seen her move so fast!) and cornered him in the office. She told him, calmly and quietly—which  used to scare the life out of us as kids—that at 82 years old, it was a bit much expecting her to sit for five hours on those dreadful chairs, without proper rest, food or water just for test results - she has a point!

We were out of there in under five minutes.
