Garden visitor

Went for a run while it wasn't too hot. Showered and then had our breakfast in the garden while the garden was in shade. We sat with our kindles in the top of the garden under the tree. I became aware of a rustling noise coming from behind the pond and close to our small wildlife woodpile. I looked very cautiously, expecting an encounter with an urban rat. Hidden half under the wood pile and half in reeds was a hedgehog. We used to get them in the garden fairly regularly but I haven't seen one for a while. I wonder if it has been using the pond or some of the water trays for plants as a source of water in this hot weather. I backed off and left it alone and it had moved later in the day. 
Watched the tennis in the afternoon and then the Women's Euros.
