Twin fun
A visit to the old Middle Head gun emplacements with Helen and the twins while Omar was able to work peacefully at home. From the early 1800s we’ve been worried about the French, Russians, Spaniards, Germans and Japanese invading us via Sydney Heads, almost everybody except maybe New Zealanders. Ironically, the only time the Middle Head battery could have seen active service would have been 1942 but the Japanese sneaked in unnoticed and created havoc for one night.
These early 19th century cannons might not have been much use against midget submarines anyway but they’re great fun for a couple of 4 year olds!
