Hold Back The River

With rain forecast for this afternoon we went for our usual Sunday walk before lunch. I took this picture along the River Mint as we headed down towards Sandy Bottoms. I was struck by how clear the water was as it went over the mini weir - one of several along that stretch, presumably installed to slow the flow of the river before it merges with the River Kent.
We had the odd shower on our (5K) walk, but nothing serious enough to force us to seek shelter. A very different story this afternoon when the rain came down with a vengeance. Fortunately, by then, we were safely indoors, slumped in front of the telly…
