DIY - not

Today was the day when the great renovation project was going to start - our house needs a lot of work done.. We were going to start off by doing the stairs to the attic - or rather Julian was going to do most of it with me helping with sanding, varnishing etc.. but as always with these things, the work can't start if you don't have the tools and the materials. So first we needed a trip to the skip so that Julian could access his tools in the garage (yes, it's that bad). So, after Django's walk we loaded my new micro-camper with all the rubbish from Julian's mum's flat that and drove to Newtongrange.
Then after lunch, we went to B&Q to buy the wood, and found that they didn't have what we needed and all proper timber merchants are at the weekend. Instead we looked at paints for the corridor and bought a few match pots and went back home. With the job stalled, I started clearing the press downstairs - to be continued  - but I found our old slides so we had a very pleasant evening watching them and remembering some of our adventures.
It was pretty wet all day and I didn't take any photo - so that's the view from my window.
