Today I got the whole story… the surgeon was reluctant to operate as my sister was unlikely to survive the operation, but things had got to the stage where not operating would quickly prove fatal. Thankfully, the op was successful. Furthermore, her kidney has survived despite 4 days of no anti-rejection meds.
I found all this out when we went to see her today (hence the Covid test), a round trip of 170 miles for a 25 minute visit! It was well worth it though, as she was looking remarkably well and likely to be discharged on Friday.
I’m exhausted tonight.
