Damp Squib

Apley Farm Classic Car Show....early start, and a really good show. Over 400 tickets sold, and hundreds of cars belonging to members of the public. A big show.

Then at around two o'clock, it grew dark. Very dark. And it began to rain. Then the rain got really heavy and we had terrific claps of thunder.

Most people ran to their vehicles. For shelter.

Then people started leaving. Long queues ensued.

I watched the fun from behind the wheel of my car, and was astonished to see the show begin to fall apart. Hundreds of cars exited and I have never seen such an exodus.

By two thirty we were left with no more than a dozen vehicles.  What a shame, quite a sudden end to an otherwise successful show.

Our small group stood around chatting for a while, under sunshine and blue skies.

The organisers began dismantling all the stands and stalls and we said our goodbyes

A great disappointment for visitors, exhibitors, and organisers

All my fault. I have been praying for rain for weeks....be careful what you wish for!
