The lilac-blue flowers of Meadow cranesbill  (Geranium pratense) are going over now with the seed heads looking like the long beaks of a crane.   They are a very good source of nectar and pollen in the countryside and there were several bees and insects visiting.  Traditionally it has been useful in herbal medicine as all the parts have medicinal properties, but the dried and powdered root is considered most powerful in terms of healing.  It is becoming popular and easy to grow in gardens.
