Its Nature
Feeling a little sad this morning at the loss of a ‘landmark’ tree in the Falmouth Old Cemetery (Upper) overnight.
One of the magnificent Monterey Pines, despite being deemed healthy at its last inspection, with the only recommendation being to cut back ivy to reduce wind resistance - which was carried out, has come down.
It seems that the recent hot, dry may have placed the tree under stress, which can contribute to sudden failure - something that’s becoming more common due to climate change.
As soon as I saw the picture on the news I knew that there was a Commonwealth War Grave at its base and set off with Paddy to see the damage for ourselves.
The workmen very kindly turned the headstone over so I could confirm its identity and I duly reported its state to the regional CWGC supervisor who will organise its repair or replacement.
Only an hour at the rugby club this morning before heading to the Greenbank Hotel to meet up with Alisha, the Events Manager, to run through Octobers Trafalgar Night Dinner over a coffee.
Home for a quick tidy before just sitting for a couple of hours.
Tuesday really took it out of me.
The evening brought a ‘Teams’ meeting of the WB2 charity
