Great Auk

It would have been fantastic to be able to say that I'd seen a great auk at Sumburgh Head - but I'm about two hundred years too late.

There is a memorial to the Great Auk on Papa Westray in Orkney, and this wee badge turned up in post today.

And in case you're wondering just how great they were - the great auk was about twice the height of the razorbill (their closest surviving relative).
