Papa Stronsay (Day 3728)

Up at stupid o'clock this morning to catch the ferry across to Stronsay to visit two customers.
The first part of the first job went really well and lulled me into a false sense of security. The next part, changing a shower, should have taken just a few minutes, but turned into a couple of hours struggling to get past issues caused by the DIY installer.
I eventually got it sorted and headed along to the next job, which was a problem with some radiators not heating up. When I arrived, the customer was keen that I had a look at a leak which was behind a plasterboard wall. Again a DIY install was to blame and although it was a relatively easy fix it would have been easier to do the job properly to begin with. I fought with the heating circuit for ages and was on the verge of giving up when I had one last try. It resulted in goopy sludgy water the colour of chocolate spraying across the hallway and me, but it was a sign that the blockage was clearing. A couple more tries and I got the blockage cleared and once the pipework was re-connected, the radiators heated up perfectly.
I sat waiting for the ferry home to my beautiful wife in fog so thick it was near enough impossible to see Papa Stronsay.
