Getting there
Finally got my packing done this morning, I'm sure I'll have too much but at least it's done.
I then wrote some individual letters to go with the invitations to the Institution Service. They were invitations which needed additional explanation and I wanted to do them myself. The congregational letters asking for numbers have also gone out today with replies going to the Vestry Secretary.
I suddenly realised that I didn't have any capsules of the flea medication I put on Cleo before she goes to kennels. I called the vet then went over to Corstorphine to pick it up. When I got back I even managed to find Cleo in a quiet corner and put it on her neck before she realised what was going on. She's such a wuss!
I had to move a couple of things this afternoon, to tomorrow which meant tomorrow was going to be even more busy. We decided to take Cleo to kennels today in order to make things a little easier. I don't know how she does it, I walked into the kitchen where she was eating her food, she took one look at me and immediately jumped onto the worksurface and up on top of the cupboards from where I have no chance of getting her down. This went on for two hours - she would be acting perfectly normally, then, as soon as I appeared, would run away to sit somewhere out of reach.
I won eventually though, I picked up her rubber brush which takes away some of her loose fur when she is moulting in the summer. She loves being brushed. As soon as she saw I had it she came over to me. I felt really mean as I picked her up and put her in her basket. She was perfectly happy once she was there though.
We quickly piled into the car, we had 40 minutes to get her to the kennels at Dalmeny before they closed and it was rush hour.
The road was looking OK with an ETA an of 15 minutes, then it rained! It was of biblical force. By the time we got to Barnton, two miles away, traffic was crawling and we raised that the Cramond Brig was flooded. It always happens. It's hard to believe they can't find a way of providing drainage for a bridge on a major road, but it always happens. The water was over 6 inches deep, deeper in places and traffic was crawling through, single file on the crest of each carriageway.
We got through though, deposited Cleo and headed back again which was when my blip was taken. Same place on Cramond Brig but heading into town (taken by Colin on my phone as I was driving). The rain had eased, but there really was no excuse for that bus going at such a speed. It wasn't safe, it threw water up over neighbouring cars and cyclists and pedestrians didn't have a chance.
By the time we got home though the rain had stopped and the steam was rising from the pavements!
Phew. A 30 minute shower caused absolute havoc . Still, tomorrow should be a bit easier now that we have one thing less to do.
The evening finished with us watching Only Connect and University Challenge.... And relax!
