Musing of a Lady

Royal Cypher

One of the things I love about the United Kingdom is the post boxes, and the royal cyphers they display. It was during the reign of Queen Victoria (1819-1901; she reigned as queen between 1837 and 1901) that this tradition began. The monarchs that followed had their cyphers placed on mailboxes too. Throughout the UK there are post boxes with the royal cyphers of King Edward VII, King George V,  King Edward VIII, George VI, and Elizabeth II. The royal cypher for King Charles III was unveiled on 12 July 2024 and is located on High Street, Great Cambourne.

We came across this post box outside St. Mary's Church in Horsham. James, Little Man's Grandad, loves visiting the church whenever he's in Horsham. We came into town with James and Debbie today. Debbie's car is in the garage for a service and James's car doesn't have the space for passengers on the backseat. So they came round for a chance to explore town together.

We walked into Horsham to do a bit of shopping. I had to get a small suitcase, as I'm not sure I'll be able to get all the gifts that Little Man has been given. Debbie also got me another Formula One lego model, as a gift. I'm going to leave it in the box (for protection) until we get back to the Netherlands. I still need to pack, but it shouldn't be long.

We got sandwiches for lunch and then went to the park to eat it. Little Man had a lot of fun playing while the adults talked. We also went to a soft play area before heading back to Mel and Molcolm's place and James and Debbie headed home.

This evening, Mel and Molcolm's daughter and son-in-law came round for a meal. It was lovely meeting them as Mel has talked about them quite a bit. Little Man did fight going to bed and it took a while for him to settle down and go to sleep.
