Pool Lock Aqueduct - Trent & Mersey
Strangely this bridge has no number but it lies between bridge 133 and bridge 134 in Kidsgrove. It is actually very different from all the other bridges I have featured as it is an aqueduct that takes the Hall Green branch of the Trent and Mersey over the main line branch. It is Pool Lock aqueduct and is one of only six places in the country where a bridge takes a canal over another canal.
The bridge was built in 1828 and is Grade II listed. The Hall Green Branch is only about 1.5 miles long and links the Trent and Mersey into the Macclesfield canal.
I walked here on another geocaching expedition with Paul and having found the caches in the series as far as Harecastle Tunnel we are going to continue along the Hall Green Branch next week.
