Meadow meander
This afternoon we accompanied members of Winchester GoLD ( organisation for adults with learning disabilities) for a meadows walk followed by a stop in the Emmaus cafe for a drink and cake.
This meadow was created on the site of the infamous Winchester bypass when it was superseded by the M3 which was constructed a bit further east in the 1990s.
We were guided by a local plant expert who encouraged us to look for and collect the ripe seed pods of Cowslips and scatter their seeds over bare patches in the meadow to encourage them to spread.
Meanwhile we enjoyed the wild carrot, knapweed, scabious, birds foot trefoil and other meadow plants in flower now.
