After yesterday’s torrential rain it was a greyer day so I got on with the usual paperwork, had a meeting at church, did a small shop, went to the post office then got into the garden for the brief hour the sun shone.

The dahlias are joining the lillies. After the pure white of the cactus dahlias the other day, the only white on this decorative dahlia (in a pot) is on the tips.

I’m pleased to report that one or two cucumbers are forming but the more productive variety is a very knobbly and slightly prickly one which may explain how it has been spared.
