These LED units are amongst the thousands needed to produce Media Skins, an open air intervention transforming the space outside the Usher Hall and part of the Edinburgh International Festival.

Created by Korean artist Hyung Su Kim and inspired by the kaleidoscope - invented between 1815 and 1817 by Scottish polymath Sir David Brewster - the images displayed on the four large installations come from a changing montage of satellite pictures - courtesy of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute - of both Scotland and South Korea and displayed against a soundtrack derived from traditional music of both countries.
