SILVERDALE DETECTIVE THEMED TREASURE TRAIL

On browsing the internet for various ideas when we, hopefully, go to Harrogate later on in the year, I came across a site called Treasure Trails.  A Treasure Trail is a fun and exciting way to get exploring outside. There are treasure hunts, detective mysteries and spy missions in towns, villages, and cities all over the UK.

Now I was wondering how good these things were, they sounded like fun.  Of course you have to pay for them but they cost £9.99 per trail and would do for the whole family, or in our case, a disabled person and an OAP!!!  I loved the idea of a detective themed one and they have some very local - one in Grange, one In Cartmel, one in Silverdale and two in Barrow - plus more I think.

I thought I'd give the Silverdale one a try as it would be better for Garron as it is unlikely to get overcrowded.  You can do the trail whenever you want, no time limits and you can take as long as you like, in fact you can spread it over several days.  I chose to just try and solve 3 clues with Garron, with rests inbetween and a visit to The Blossom Bird Cafe (brilliant place) and we will either finish them another day or Hubby and I will finish them instead.  The funny confidential case file at the beginning of the booklet made me smile, with the Detective  Ivan Eklew needing your help i solving the murder of Cherry Bakewell, a local baker!!!!!  Well you get the drift.

I chose to have a physical copy as that is my preference but you can have it downloaded and just use it on your phone for you younger and/or more tech savvy folk.   You can sometimes learn and/or see things in your own area that you may not have seen before.  We certainly did today.

I have to say we found it good fun and gave us something to focus on rather than just visit sites and probably miss a lot of things.  There are several for Harrogate, so if we go I will select one to buy and have another go.

£9.99 per trail seems quite a lot but that can be for quite a few people, it also advises  you whether they are suitable for wheelchairs, prams etc, where to find toilets, if any and places for refreshments, shops etc.

So for me it has worked.  We only went as far as across a field to see the Silverdale Cave today as any further would be too much for Garron, but even that was fun.

This is a simple collage for today, but one I thought you might like.  I won't put a link as that would be advertising but if you are interesting ou will find it easy enough - maybe some of you already know of this. Some are Dog friendly too and they say they are good for ages 6 to 106, well I guess that depends on how strenuous they are.  This one would cover 2 miles, so fine for Hubby and I to complete  and easy walking do for my poorly back.

That is all from me for today - do take and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow, when hopefully Garron  will be dingling his dongle!!!!
