STEELY PAST

Grosmont Sculpture- a village famous these days as a main station on the North York Moors Railway – NYMR. A look around this rural landscape completely hides the active industrial past of 1862. Within sight of this small village, three blast furnaces and a huge chimney towered over the view. Over 1000 tonnes of pig iron were produced each week, until the plant closed in 1891.
This metallic sculpture shows clearly the outline of the village, with the current rail line entering the scene via the river bridge in the bottom right hand side.
Huge congrats to my grand friend T . . . yesterday, he completed another stage of the Route One Cycleway, which runs down the whole of the East Coast of the UK. His latest exploit, the 320 miles from Dover to Norwich, means that only one part of the cycleway remains . . . Inverness to Edinburgh . . . all downhill mate . . . go for it T, but I would still leave it until next year . . . hehe.
Camera Club Fish & Chips last night . . . excellent and a few members even braved the rain to play croquet.
