Ampleforth Abbey and Tearoom
We had lunch at the cafe in Ampleforth Abbey with a Men's Shed member who lives in the village. I have driven past on a few occasions but wasn't aware of the tearoom.
Together with the Appleforth College next door the venue gives a feel of days gone by, however the Abbey is still a community of Benedictine monks and the college is still a Catholic boarding school.
The panelled tearoom together with all the tables and chairs were made by the 'Mouseman' of Kilburn. I doubt if the recent addition of VAT onto the private tuition fees will effect those who can attend.
