Shandy

Today I ventured to Haslemere, in a delightful hilly stretch of countryside on the way to Portsmouth, to spend the day with my colleague Bella. In the morning as I departed London and as I was on the street in front of where I’m staying, crazily I ran into Gugs with a group of her colleagues. We realised we are staying in the same place for practically the same dates. We shrieked, as is our way, and agreed to meet up very soon for Portuguese custard tarts.

Bella and I whacked through some work challenges in a café on the quintessentially English high street of Haslemere. The bookshop opposite tempted me in and I made some purchases, going directly against my policy of trying to travel light. It was an epic place and I felt I needed to explosively compliment the lady behind the counter.

We continued tinkering on our laptops for a while and we made progress on an important document. Mid-afternoon we agreed we needed shandy to spur us on so we decamped to a pub on the same high street. When it was time to get my train back to London Bella walked me to the station through ye olde partes of Haslemere. A work day done well.
