Wedding day
The day has finally come, after all the planning and arrangements. And after all the weather-watching, the anticipated thunderstorms didn’t materialise, and we had clear skies for the parts of the day that mattered.
It was an absolutely lovely day, everything went as planned, and I think everyone had a great time. It was a small wedding, only 10 of us in total in the end (one was unwell and couldn’t make it) so I didn’t really know what to expect. But it all worked so well - there was much laughter and chatter (in two languages for Tomoko who had to do a lot of translating for her parents), and we almost got kicked out of the restaurant at the end of the night as they were closing. I couldn’t believe how quickly 6 hours could go!
There was a lot of emotion around as well, as there should be at a wedding. Some great speeches, full of heartfelt words, some tears, and some sadness for those travelling back to Japan, leaving their daughter behind again.
An overwhelming day in many ways, and it will take some time to come down from it all. I tried to take lots of photos, but really I’m relying on the wedding photographer to capture it all. This shot of Adam and Tomoko laughing while trying to cut the cake sums up the happiness that radiated from them all day.
I’ve gushed enough now - normal service will resume tomorrow!
