Stoodley Pike, Todmorden

Stoodley Pike is an obelisk 121 ft tall built on a hill 1,300 ft above sea level.
It was completed in 1856 at the end of the Crimean War.
It dominates the views around Todmorden and is a popular 'landmark' on the Pennine Way.
I grew up around here, and this was essentially the view out of my bedroom window.
It's a deceptively long walk to the 'Pike' and today was far too warm to even contemplate a visit - so it is viewed from afar :-)
