New Moon and Mother Osprey

I am reading that today the Moon is in the New Moon phase with an illumination of 0%. (??)
The weather is warm at last. I have been freezing for so long that I am happy and comfortable.
However at the Osprey nest I noticed that the mother was taking care of her offspring by covering the young from worst heat with her large wings.
