On A Sticky Wicket

I noticed movement on the ground. On my knees I could see that a wasp had captured a female speckled bush cricket. The hapless cricket was on its back with the wasp chomping at its underside. Then another wasp arrived and the two of them fought. (Extras)

I have seen wasps attacking bees and Bom mentioned them going for moths but I haven't seen this behaviour before. I've read that there are wasps which sting and paralyse crickets then take the still alive insects to their nests as food for their young. I don't think our common wasps do this but they clearly enjoy munching crickets. The wasp is being careful not to get too near the cricket's powerful jaws which can be seen in my image.
