Thursday: Back Lanes
Cousin J stayed over last night so that we could drive up to Whitley Bay together. None of us love the drive up so we thought it would be more palatable if we did it together. That was definitely the case - my favourite part was having a nice nap in the back of the car.
We’re up for a family party this weekend but it’s a weird trip in some ways. For us, it’s the first time we’ve visited since my beloved Aunty, J’s step-mum, died in January. As we always used to stay with her we don’t have our natural base so we’re in an Airbnb. And for Cousin J, his family home has now been sold, so he’s also staying with us.
It’ll be fine, tomorrow we’ll start catching up with family. For tonight, we went to the Rockcliffe Arms, favourite pub of my uncle/J’s dad, who died during Covid. We ended the evening with a Chinese takeaway.
