Guilty OR Not Guilty?
More years ago than I can remember now I heard/read an item stating that it was, shall we word it, "not unusual" to spray some Harvested Crops, (Spuds were quoted) with a growth inhibitor. &/or rubbing Buds off Ginger to prevent it sprouting.
I had my customary "ratch about" and found - Only half taken as it was longish:-
"Supermarkets typically do not spray growth inhibitors on potatoes. However, some practices may involve treatments to manage sprouting during storage and transport.
Common Practices:
Growth Inhibitors: Certain chemicals, like chlorpropham, are used in some countries to prevent sprouting in stored potatoes. These are not applied directly by supermarkets but may be used by growers or during processing.
Regulations: The use of growth inhibitors is regulated, and any residues must comply with safety standards set by food safety authorities."
Can't be CERTAIN - BUT - I have a sneaking feeling the one on the right is by FAR the elder (By several Months) and the one on the left was bought @ local farm. I know it's late but I might plant both 2 C what happens.
