Days of 47 Parade

Today, July 24, is the day that pioneers first arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. The state commemorates the day with a state holiday.  Salt Lake City does a big parade. I didn't go to the parade in person, these are taken from TV.

The miracle of the gulls mentioned in the lower right refers to a time when an infestation of Mormon crickets, which are more like grasshoppers, came to the valley and threatened the crops of the new settlers. After many prayers, a large number of seagulls arrived in the valley and feasted on the crickets, saving the crops. We still have seagulls.
