Stomping round Leicester
It was a day of hospitals.Len complained of pain in his groin and that the surgeon hadn't done the job properly so I said we would have to go to Loughborough Hospital's walk-in centre. I insisted that we phone 111 first hoping to get an appointment rather than having to wait for ages.
Ah, but it was a referral, not an appointment. Different things. We had to wait. Finally, around 12.30, we were given an appointment for 2.30. In the meantime, I said we should go to Currys and get Len's phone sorted out as it has been filling up with unwanted phishing c**p. Nice young man helped us AND also got Len's gmail up and running with a new password. Now I can get his Chromebook working - at last.
Coffee at Costa on the precinct and then the worrier insisted on getting back to the hospital. We saw a nurse practitioner who was a bit worried by his findings and referred us to the Surgical Triage team at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Luckily George said he could help us out with Basil who had been with Helen and David in the morning.
A quick trip home for me to make a sandwich (I'm glad I did as the prospect of getting anything gluten free to eat before the end of the day seemed pretty remote) and to collect Basil then drive to George's where we caught an Uber to LRI. Near the cathedral, we saw this elephant painted in regal armour (I wonder who it's meant to represent) which is part of the Stomp Around Leicester trail this summer. The driver even slowed down for me to take this photo.
A long walk from the front door to the clinic which was on the 5th floor arriving shortly before 5 pm. We finally got home at 11 pm.
Basically, there's nothing wrong with Len other than the expected aftermath of an operation. But he is allowed to play tennis now. I hope that cheers him up. He still thinks the docs have got it wrong.
I did get a candid of this woman's Bling (Extra) while sitting in the walk-in centre.
