Sweet Spot
My husband wanted to go jogging up into the Barrens, yes, even in all this heat. And I took my bike, and we both went up Tow Hill together. I am the first to admit that I am a dawdler when it comes to the whole bike thing. I ride a little while. I get off. I look at stuff. I take pictures. I get back on. I ride. I will set no records for speed or distance, but I will have fun!
When I got to the top of Tow Hill, this little fella was standing by the fence. I imagine the grass and clovers there are very tasty. We had a moment, the two of us. (Well, actually, it was a full minute and a half!) We just stopped and looked at each other. Then I got out the camera. Slowly, very slowly. Snagged about a dozen shots (here are a few more on Instagram), of which this was my fave.
It was also a good day for butterflies. I spent several full minutes with a huge yellow tiger swallowtail that was feasting on milkweed. And also with a fritillary on pink thistles. The daisies are still in fine shape and I saw one of the most adorable crab spiders I've ever met; I encourage you to go and see the little cutie, who appears to be smiling, and wearing a brown beanie and matching leg warmers!
In other news, guess who got a sunburn on her back from her day playing mermaid in the sun. This girl, that's who! Our soundtrack song for this sweet baby above, whom I've named Spot, is Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, with Sweet Spot.
