Migrant Hawker
A rare ( perhaps first time ) visitor to our garden. I think it is a Male Migrant Hawker Dragonfly.
We had an easy walk around a local hillside before lunch including a proper 15 minute Big Butterfly Count - decided because the sun was shining.
The formula of wait till the sun is shining before looking for butterflies really worked we had an unprecedented 11 species including 1 Painted Lady and 1 Holly Blue in the last few seconds. At least 15 Gatekeeper and 7 Speckled Wood were the top scorers BUT we also saw 5 Wall Brown which is not listed on the Big Butterfly app.
I might have got a photo of a Hummingbird Hawk Moth later in the day if I hadn’t left my shoes in an unusual place and more importantly remembered to put the battery back in the camera!
Good news in the post from hospital my recent pelvic MRI scan shows “No significant change” - calm down and carry on is if it never happened.
