A visiting grasshopper relocated to an olive leaf
After making my strong coffee fix this morning, I went into the downstairs utility room, where a lot of ’stuff’ ends up. The door is nearly always open onto the dining room and thus to the garden through the sliding patio doors. This grasshopper seemed to have made an entrance that way and was now perched quietly on the wall.
I had a quick close-up peek at it hoping not to disturb it, in case it headed off to pastures new where I wouldn’t be able to reach it to help it return to a more appropriate location. I found a large glass beer mug in the kitchen and on my return was pleased to see it hadn’t moved. I managed to surround it with the glass placed against the wall, slid a piece of card under it and headed out to the garden.
I removed the card with the glass hovering over some of our olive tree’s leaves and managed to get it to reluctantly alight on an olive leaf. Once again I wasn’t sure what it would do, so after a short while and feeling a blip opportunity emerging I went to get my camera. I managed a few pictures though it was hard to stand in the right position.
I then left it to its future, and after a few minutes from a distance I looked out and found it had departed. I hope it wanted a new abode.
