Extra elevation is required to access the top of the hallway for re-decoration at Son#3's house. An eight foot scaffolding board would do nicely but, at thirty quid, or more, I decided instead to go for two 2.4m lengths of CLS and use up a couple of 18mm plywood off-cuts which were the perfect size. The hallway and ceiling are now all stripped back, with the woodchip wallpaper removed, and everything ready for painting.
